They’re at it again! Relient K is back in the studio. Straight from a year of touring for their debut album, the boys have joined up once again with Mark Townsend to create more great pop/punk music. The band is trying to stay with “their” sound but also trying to experiment with newer things. Concert favorites like “Maybe It’s Maybeline” will be recorded along with many other songs. Catch the band live this spring opening for the Supertones and Switchfoot.


 

January 23

Relient K has been said to be one of the most captivating bands on the music scene today. The band’s self titled release was the best selling debut album on Soundscan’s Christian Rock chart for 2000. The four member teenage pop punk band played more than 200 shows last year, touring through 47 states. Their hard work and entertaining live show has already begun to create a strong national buzz.


 

April 10

Relient K is back at it again. Their new record will be out on August 28 from Gotee Records. Some of the songs will be “Pressing On”, “May the Horse Be With You”, “Less Is More” and “Down in Flames”. More news will be coming soon.


 

May 11

Relient K is most certainly Pressing On, and now you can too! The band’s sophomore album Pressing On releases on August 28th, but thanks to their label, Gotee Records, you won’t have to wait till the 28th to hear the new songs. Gotee.com is featuring a new “Studio” section which gives fans sneak previews of new releases in the making! May 31

The latest news from Relient K is that their next record has been renamed from Pressing On to The Anatomy of the Tongue and Cheek. That’s quite a change! The album is still set to release on August 28th.


 

June 8

The youthful rockers known as Relient K will be releasing an EP this summer featuring never before released material. The Creepy EP will feature 2 songs (”Pressing On,” “Those Words Are Not Enough”) from their new record The Anatomy of Tongue in Cheek in stores August 28. Along with acoustic versions of “Pressing On” and “Softer to Me,” a B-side (”Operation”), and a demo of a new song (”Jefferson Airplane”). This will not be available in stores, The Creepy EP will be available only at this summer’s festivals and at gotee.com.


 

July 13

Relient K is almost ready to start on their video for their new song, “Sadie Hawkins Dance.” The song will be on the band’s upcoming sophomore album, The Anatomy Of The Tongue In Cheek. One of the famous television actors of our time will guest star. Enter mister Gary Coleman, of Diff’rent Strokes fame.


 

July 30

BEC Recordings has made it Christmas in July! As if this summer didn’t have enough sequels already, the label has just announced the plan for Happy Christmas 3! But highlights on the third installment of this popular collection include Starflyer 59’s cover of “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” Hangnail’s full-on power rock of “Do You Hear What I Hear” Denison Whitmer contributes the deeply affecting original piece, “A Christmas Song,” while Kendall Payne delivers a hauntingly beautiful rendition of “O Come, O Come Emmanuel.” Joy Electric, the electronic band that seems to exist specifically for the Christmas season, delivers their own touch to “Sleigh Ride.” But hold on to those reigns, cause we’re just getting started! Switchfoot, O.C. Supertones, Earthsuit, a freshly reunited Poor Old Lu, Relient K, Ace Troubleshooter, Slick Shoes, a solo recording by Matt Theissen from Relient K, Bleach; and Cadet will also be featured! Sounds like three’s a charm, fellas!


 

August 1

Relient K has pressed on for another new video. They recently finished their video for their new song “Pressing On,” directed by Darren Doane. He has worked with the likes of Blink 182, MxPx, Jimmy Eat World, as well as the Supertones.


 

August 20

There will be many familiar faces on the Nov./Dec. cover of HM Magazine. Relient K and Five Iron Frenzy will both be on the front page with pictures from the Inside Out Soul Festival at Lincoln, NH. Also, in sort of Relient K news, Matthew Thiessen & the Earthquakes are almost here. The lead singer of RK and his own band will have a song on the BEC’s Happy Christmas 3 album entitled “I Hate Christmas Parties.” This will show his love for the piano with a Ben Folds Five meets Beach Boys flavor about who a girl gave him a broken heart as a Christmas present.


 

September 6

Relient K also experienced a nice debut last week with their new release, The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek. 8,696 albums were sold in total, with the album debuting at #5 on the Top Christian Albums chart and #8 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. The album was also #1 on the Virgin Megastore Columbus coveted Top 30 wall at this store (#2 was Aaliyah , #3 Alicia Keys)! 1,821 copies were scanned in the general market (21% of total) as well. Relient played the Chameleon Club in Lancaster, PA over the weekend and sold 530+ units in one night! In addition, Relient K has been chosen as the featured recording in the Tower Records Developing Artist Program for the Washington D.C. region from Oct 25 – Nov 29, which will include mandatory in-store play, listening stations, and more in 12 Tower Records locations including Washington D.C., Annapolis, MD., Philadelphia, Richmond, VA., Cherry Hill, NJ. and Fairfax, VA. Way to go, guys!


 

September 18

The video for Relient K’s song “Pressing On” aired last night and will air today over E! News Daily’s closing credits. The song was chosen based on it’s timely message to encourage our country to “PRESS ON…” in these painful and difficult days… E! News Daily Airs weekdays at 7-8am and 6:30-7pm EST/Pacific.


 

October 27

Don’t be alarmed if the next time you see Relient K, they are wearing Abercrombie and Fitch clothes. It’s only natural when they have partnered with the worldwide retail chain. A & F will start a campaign on November 2nd with in-store video play, featured MP3’s, music videos, photos, and band questions and answers on the websites. A&FTV will air an episode of Mountain Biking with pieces of four of the band’s latest songs nationwide and the band as well as Gotee Records will get major expsure from A & F. American Eagle Outfitters will have the band do two in store appearances in Toronto, Canada where one person will win a $500 shopping spree with the band helping to pick out the clothes! Teen People Magazine will also feature the guys in their December isssue.


 

November 15

Gotee recording artist Relient K has signed a multi-year artist management agreement with Nashville-based Alabaster Arts, Inc., effective immediately. The new agreement comes just as Relient K is finishing the last leg of the very successful, 30+-city “Electric Youth” tour with Five Iron Frenzy and label-mate John Reuben. Relient K joins an Alabaster Arts management roster that includes the O.C. Supertones and Red Hill recording artist Katy Hudson.
