Relient K will hit the road with secular bands The Ataris and Catch 22 in April. They will be doing shows in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and possibly more.

Gotee recording group Relient K has recently been added to the line-up for the annual Asbury Park Skate ‘N Surf festival, April 19-21, which will feature over 150 bands including Newfound Glory, Get Up Kids, The Descendents and Good Charlotte.. In addition to lots of music, the festival boasts surprise guests, innovative exhibits, BMX team performances, and the top Skate and Surf videos . Since it’s release in August 2001, Relient K’s The Anatomy of the Tongue In Cheek has proven itself to be a landmark record for Relient K, recently hitting a career milestone with the album’s sales surpassing 100,000 units according to SoundScan. After 34+ weeks, The Anatomy of the Tongue In Cheek continues to sell over 2000 units a week, and Relient K is drawing on average over 1000 fans to their shows each night, proving they are quickly becoming a undeniable force in the industry at both retail and on the road.

One involves the details surrounding the recording of a special song for a incredible motion picture soundtrack. The guys spent the last week recording the song with producers Mark Townsend and Steve Taylor. The other announcement is lineup and tour dates for the massive fall tour RK will be doing. Stay tuned.”

According to their official site, the band Relient K has begun work on a contribution to the forthcoming Veggie Tales theatrical release Jonah: A Veggie Tales Movie due out this Fall. Acclaimed producer, singer and songwriter Steve Taylor is helping the guys in recording their rendition of the Veggie Tales silly song, “The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything.” The cover tune will be featured on the soundtrack also due out this Fall.

Gotee recording artist Relient K will launch their first headline tour this fall, on the heels of debuting the lead single from Jonah-A Veggie Tales Movie. The “Back to the Few Tour,” will also feature Bleach, Philmore and Holland. The 40 + city tour, which will hit key markets including Chicago, Minneapolis, Seattle, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta and Boston, is taking a diverse approach to venues, with performances scheduled in every outlet possible, from high schools and auditoriums, to clubs and churches. “We hesitate to headline a band on their second record, but Relient K’s growth is undeniable,” commented Steve Thomas, of Alabaster Arts. “Gotee and Jeff Risden are making good decisions, and the climate is perfect for this type of band to take a leading role.” In addition to the tour, Relient K has recorded a single for the upcoming film, Jonah-A Veggie Tales Movie, which releases in theaters nationwide October 4th, and the single will be sold at retail beginning in August. The song, produced by industry veteran Steve Taylor, is a rendition of “The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything.” The single will be supported by Gotee Records through a summer-long campaign which also aims to support the fall tour.

Five of the year’s top rock, punk and hip-hop acts will join forces this spring on a new multi-artist rock event called the See Spot Rock Tour, which hits the road in February, 2003. Co-headlining the explosive “five-star” lineup are high-octane audience favorites O.C. Supertones and Relient K, joined by critically-acclaimed rock band Pillar, hip-hop head John Reuben and new rockers Sanctus Real. The See Spot Rock Tour will hit nearly 50 cities between February and May including Cleveland, Ohio; Philadelphia, Pa.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; St. Paul, Minn.; Oklahoma City, Okla.; Seattle, Wash.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Irvine, Calif., and more. The tour launches Feb. 9, 2003 and tickets for most cities go on sale Dec. 7. A faithful JfH visitor wrote in to say they spotted a preview for the Disney Movie that will be on next week called Nancy Drew. Incidentally, Relient K’s song “Nancy Drew” was playing during it. Interesting! Someone at Disney has good tastes in music?
