Relient K has announced an impressive run of tour dates headlining venues from 1000-3000 in capacity, marking the first extensive outing in support of the band’s newly released fourth album Mmhmm. The itinerary, set to begin in early February, will see the Canton, Ohio-based group venturing from Florida to California on what will be only their third tour as headliners. The pop punk trio averages 150-200 live dates annually. Mmhmm debuted on November 2nd, 2004 at #15 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and has to date sold over 200,000. The debut sales numbers effectively doubled those set in 2003 by the debut of Relient K’s Billboard Top 40 third album, Two Lefts Don’t Make A Right…But Three Do. Gotee/Capitol Records’ band Relient K has struck gold with their 2003 release Two Lefts Don’t Make A Right… But Three Do (Gotee). The album, released on March 11th, 2003, has been officially certified gold status by the RIAA, signifying sales over the 500,000 mark. Two Lefts Don’t Make A Right… debuted at #38 on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart, garnered a Grammy nod as well as a Dove Award for “Modern Rock Album Of The Year,” and received a 4-star (out of 5) review from Alternative Press. Relient K, a power-punk rock band from Canton, OH, has also heralded a bevy of success with their latest studio album Mmhmm, which sold an an impressive 51,473 albums sold first week out, nearly doubling their street week numbers of the last album Two Lefts Don’t Make A Right… But Three Do. These first week sales numbers landed Relient K at #15 on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart. The wait is finally over! MySpace.com is featuring the exclusive premiere of Relient K’s new video for “Be My Escape.” The video is on Relient K’s MySpace profile and features a glimpse of the trio expanded to a quintet! “Be My Escape” began playing in regular rotation on FUSE and mtvu yesterday. In other RK news, the band is hitting the road again – this time opening for Good Charlotte and Simple Plan on the “Noise to the World” tour. Relient K won Yahoo! Music’s “Who’s Next” poll with a whopping 63% of the votes!! You can watch an exclusive performance and interview with the band on Yahoo! Music starting Monday, May 9th. “We would like to thank Yahoo! Music. ‘Who’s Next?’ is a great program, and we’re really happy to be part of it. We would also like to thank all the people that voted for us. You’re all a bunch of sweethearts,” said frontman Matt Theissen. The announcement comes as the Canton, Ohio-based band continues to thrill sun-baked North American audiences as a main stage act on this year’s installment of the celebrated Vans Warped Tour. Relient K will continue the trek through to its final bows, set for August 15th at Northampton, Massachusetts’ Three Counties Fairgrounds. Released last November, the Top 15 Mmhmm has proven to be Relient K’s mosvt successful outing to date, reaping unanimous critical commendations and the fastest sales of the band’s career. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently announced its album and video certifications for the month of July. Relient K’s 2004 project, Mmhmm (Gotee) was certified Gold for shipments of more than 500,000 units.
