Since its release in August 2001, The Anatomy of the Tongue In Cheek has proven itself to be a landmark record for Relient K, recently hitting a career milestone with the album’s sales surpassing 100,000 units according to SoundScan.

After 34+ weeks, The Anatomy of the Tongue In Cheek continues to sell over 2000 units a week, and Relient K is drawing on average over 1000 fans to their shows each night, proving they are quickly becoming a undeniable force in the industry at both retail and on the road. In addition, the radio hits keep coming at Christian radio, with “Those Words Are Enough” (#3 Rock, R&R) and “For the Moments I Feel Faint” (#29 CHR, R&R).

On Relient K’s success, Gotee president Joey Elwood comments, “I think we’ve only scratched the surface with this band. They’re quietly drawing a very formidable fan base.”

This week, MTV’s Bunim-Murray Productions requested use of music from The Anatomy of the Tongue In Cheek for use on upcoming episode(s) of MTV’s Road Rules and Extreme Challenge. In past seasons, these shows have approximately 2 million to 3.5 million viewers per episode making them part of MTV’s highest annually rated programs.

The band also just played two major U.S. mainstream music festivals, including the fabulously fun and famous “Skate ‘n Surf” Festival in Asbury Park, NJ. This summer finds them all over the map at summer festivals including Cornerstone, Creation East and West, Inside Out, Kingdom Bound, and more.

“Something unusual is happening here,” commented Steve Thomas of Alabaster Arts management. “Our management website (www.alabaster.com) surpassed 4.5 million hits in April, mostly due to Relient K. We’re working hard to take full advantage of the myriad of opportunities being afforded this unsuspecting group of guys.”

Relient K is expected to announce fall touring plans soon.
