Gotee Records’ rock band Relient K debuts in the top tier of the Billboard 200 sales chart this week, scanning 30,124 units with its new release, Two Lefts Don’t Make a Right… But Three Do. The critically acclaimed project follows Relient K’s long stint on the Billboard Heatseekers chart with their 2001 recording, The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek.

As if a great debut on the CBA Retail Chart (#2) and the Billboard 200 (#38) weren’t enough, Relient K’s new album also enters the CMJ Radio 200 at #184 after only its second week out of the box. Ninety-five stations have already added the record to their rotation, with seven immediately placing it in their top 5.

This marks the first time in Gotee Records’ nine-year history that one of their recordings has surpassed the 30,000 mark in one week’s time. “I don’t think we could have handpicked a better group of individuals for this to happen to,” affirms Gotee President, Joey Elwood. “These guys have worked so hard over the last four years, and have really not let themselves get too caught up with all that has gone on around them. But what I love the most is that their talent is not even close to peaking. If these guys can continue to keep their heads about them, it’s scary to think about where they could end up in a few years.”

Two Lefts Don’t Make a Right… But Three Do, which frontman Matt Thiessen co-produced with longtime collaborator Mark Townsend, effectively captures Relient K’s signature hooks, harmonies, and engaging irreverence.

“Relient K is just now coming into its own,” says the group’s manager, Jeff Risden of Alabaster Arts. “The successful launch of this album is just the beginning for the band. We’re excited about what the future holds.”

A band whose tireless work ethic already landed them on the cover of Pollstar magazine, Relient K has shared the stage with punk peers like New Found Glory and Good Charlotte, and is gaining national exposure with their music rocking Nintendo Game Cube’s “Big Air Freestyle,” and hit television shows like Smallville, MTV’s Tough Enough 3, and E! Entertainment News. Thanks to overwhelming street buzz, Relient K’s two previous albums boast an impressive track record, having sold over 300,000 combined copies.

These young Ohio natives are quickly turning into a club headliner, having sold-out 25 shows last fall on their first top-bill tour. Currently, Relient K is performing as part of the national See Spot Rock Tour, appearing in over 40 auditoriums across the country. The band will also hit the summer festival circuit, playing mainstage events at Creation, Atlantafest, Alive, and more.
