Five of the top rock, punk, and hip-hop acts from across the Christian Music spectrum hit the touring circuit with a bang this week as the See Spot Rock Tour sold out its first full weekend of shows on the scheduled 45-city tour. The tour that Pollstar Magazine labeled “ambitious” features an all-star lineup that includes heavy-duty rock favorites The O.C. Supertones, Relient K, and Pillar, along with hip-hop head John Reuben and critically-acclaimed newcomers Sanctus Real.

Even in the midst of a winter storm blast that hit the upper east coast of the United States over the weekend, the See Spot Rock Tour sold out four shows February 14-16, in major markets like Detroit, MI; Lancaster, PA (where an added second show also sold out); and Philadelphia, PA (which sold out and is being rescheduled because of weather). Ticket sales continue to rise as the high-octane tour moves into major markets such as Grand Rapids, St. Paul, Nashville, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, and on to the West Coast in the coming weeks. The tour runs through early May.

Created and produced by Alabaster Arts, the See Spot Rock Tour, brings together five acts that have individually continued to generate huge underground followings and audience loyalty. Alabaster Arts President Steven Thomas says, “It’s great to see that See Spot Rock has filled such a void. We took a financial risk to get this off the ground and get the best lineup, but to our surprise, promoters were five deep in some markets competing for dates. Shows are selling out in advance, even with no reserved seating. We couldn’t be more grateful to William Morris Agency, to the promoters and to the young people snatching up these tickets.”

William Morris Agency agent Mark Guynn says, “The William Morris Agency is very pleased to be working with such a dynamic lineup of artists. We feel that See Spot Rock offers fans the opportunity to see a tour that’s all about the music. Alabaster Arts has done a great job of producing this tour, and we’re proud to be working with them and representing such a great event.”

The See Spot Rock Tour has been defined by organizers as, “great artists coming together for the cause of encouraging Americans through rock & roll… to celebrate the fact that music can still move the masses for the good.” The bands themselves plan to deliver one of the most unique and electric tours of the year.

“See Spot Rock is a tour that will not be dignified, arrogant, elitist, or embellished in false pretense,” says Supertones band member Dan Spencer. “But it will be a raw, asteroidal conglomerate of sound and energy, poised to puncture, enrich, and electrify the hearts of the everyman.”

In typical Relient K fashion, frontman Matt Thiessen adds his own brand of humor and wit: “This tour is going to be like a furniture liquidation sale. There’s going to be love seats and dining room sets flying everywhere. The kids will scream, the music will be loud, and the furniture will be CHEAP!”
